The Festive Season Wrap

Over the last eight weeks, we have witnessed the snow receding across the mountain tops and the warm rays of spring awakening the vines from their winter slumber. Our three estate vineyards are now looking lush & green and in the early stages of flowering, that will become the cherished bunches we harvest in vintage 2024.

This year has whizzed by and looking back we have made some great memories.

We finally got back on the road to visit some of our importers, and reconnected with amazing restaurateurs and fine wine merchants that support our wines across NZ, Australia, UK, USA, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Max & Katie headed off to Burgundy and Oregon, to gain some invaluable vintage experience, and to see how other premium producers approach making wine. Claire and Agustina stayed closer to home and were part of the Central Otago Pinot Noir workshop. A collaborative day where wines are tasted, and the wine-making process discussed and evaluated with fellow winemakers.

Shane and the vineyard crew welcomed two Dexter cattle into our existing herd of Highland cattle. We are happy to say that both Iris and Nike have settled into their new home on the Burn Cottage Vineyard, and that Iris is due to give birth any day now.

If you missed the last update, we also purchased our third vineyard this year. We are close to having an official name, for the beautiful 2.2Ha site, that’s nestled on the corner of Felton Road in Bannockburn.

We’ve also welcomed a record number of visitors to our winery for a tasting and a chat, about all things Burn Cottage. If you’re heading our way over the coming months, do get in touch and swing by for a tasting.

All that's really left to say is, make the most of your time with family and friends, and enjoy some fantastic wine and food during the festive season.

Thank you for all your support and here’s to an exciting 2024 and all that it brings.

Cheers

Marquis, Dianne & The Burn Cottage Crew.
