A New Release From Bannockburns Golden Mile

The Burn Cottage Sauvage Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 is available now.

When writing about Bannockburn and the vineyards along Felton Road, New Zealand’s own Master of Wine and leading wine commentator, Bob Campbell, once described the area as “Central Otago’s Golden Mile for Pinot Noir.”

We couldn’t agree more. In 2022, we were gifted what can only be described as a “Goldilocks season” — just the right balance of warmth, cool, and rain — producing a plush, opulent, and beautifully juicy Pinot Noir from the Sauvage Vineyard.

As always, the Bannockburn tannins are bold and ripe, carrying flavours of Black Doris plum, dark cherry, raspberry, and dark chocolate, all finishing with that unmistakable Bannockburn touch of Christmas cake spice. An impressive wine now and with a good decade plus of cellaring potential.

While we’re here in New Zealand welcoming in spring and dusting off the BBQ, our friends in the Northern Hemisphere are easing into the cooler days of autumn. Either way, we’ve got the perfect dish — a fantastic match for the 2022 Sauvage Vineyard Pinot Noir, hearty and delicious in any season.”

Why not try pairing it with a classic slow-cooked lamb shoulder recipe from UK Chef Tom Kerridge? (And if you’re ever in Marlow, his pub The Coach is well worth a visit.)
