Burn Cottage Valli Vineyard Cellar Release
Yesterday, the last bunches of Pinot Noir from Vintage 2022 made their way into the winery. We now have a small parcel of Riesling & Gruner Veltliner to pick, before we celebrate the end of harvesting. It has been a fantastic end to the season, and we've had some of the most settled weather that we can remember.
We picked the Pinot Noir from the Valli Vineyard in Gibbston last week, and it was in pristine condition. Those of you that have had the chance to taste the Pinot Noir from this vineyard, will know it is one of the most exciting sites in the Gibbston region. We love the wine that we craft from this unique site, and decided to release a small parcel of Burn Cottage Valli Vineyard, from our cellar, so you can experience the excitement that we feel for this outstanding vineyard.
Between them they have over 60 years of winemaking knowledge, garnered from vintages across New Zealand, Australia, France, and the USA. Over a glass of wine in 2013, they hatched a plan to swap a small parcel of Pinot Noir from our Burn Cottage Vineyard in Lowburn and the Valli Gibbston Vineyard.
The result of this unique collaboration is that we get to craft and bottle our expression of the unique Valli Vineyard, and in return we get to see the expression of our Burn Cottage vineyard through the eyes of one of New Zealand’s most respected winemakers.
The collaboration kicked off with vintage 2014, and we have loved the journey over the proceeding years and getting a closer connection to the unique vineyard in Gibbston. As many of you will know, we were unable to do the grape swap in 2020 due to the Covid restrictions that were in place.
Therefore we have gone into the winery cellar and put together a mixed vertical case, which contains a bottle of every vintage of Burn Cottage Valli Vineyard Pinot Noir from 2014-2019.
There are also a few straight cases available from vintage 2014 2015, 2017, 2018 & 2019.
