Burn Cottage Vineyard will only accept online orders from customers with physical delivery addresses in the countries where deliveries is possible. All prices listed are quoted in New Zealand dollars NZD$ and all orders will be processed in New Zealand dollars NZD$

Delivery Policy

Please allow up to 7 working days from date of purchase for delivery within NZ, 1-4 weeks for Australia, USA, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and EU, UK 6-10 weeks.

For countries abroad we use NZ based international delivery company NZ Wine Home.

Recipient not home

NZ: If the recipient is not home when the courier arrives, and there has been no authority / instruction from the buyer to leave the delivery on premise, a calling card will be left at the door or in the letterbox asking them to call the courier to arrange a convenient time for re-delivery or pick up from the local post office or depot. The timing for re-delivery may be affected in line with this.

Returned Goods and Refund Policy

Should an item you receive as part of an order from Burn Cottage Vineyard contain a fault – the said product/s should be returned directly to the winery. If the product is a wine, it should be returned with remaining wine left in the bottle for analysis. A replacement bottle will be sent to the customer upon receipt of the faulty wine- no monetary refund will be offered.

Please Note: no refunds are offered if customers simply change their mind about the product purchased.

Vintage 2020 - One for the history books

All of us at Burn Cottage hope that you, your family and friends are all doing ok and bearing up under these unusual circumstances. It’s hard to believe we are already at the midway point of 2020 and we look forward with you all to a more positive second half of the year.
Vintage 2020 is one that will definitely go down in the history books as one of the finest and most challenging for the region/s. As you may know the New Zealand wine industry was given Government approval to proceed with harvest during the lockdown. This meant we put in place strict guidelines to ensure the vineyard and winemaking teams were kept safe.
Due to the early season weather this year’s harvest was smaller than normal for us. This allowed the team to pick, sort and vinify at a steady pace throughout the vintage period. It can’t be said enough what an amazing job that both the Vineyard and Winery crews did in what were very unusual circumstances and it they personified the meaning of “team work”.
Shane and the crew began picking the first bunches of Pinot Noir on the 24th March in the lower, more sheltered blocks of the Burn Cottage Vineyard, and continued at a staggered pace until the last bunches of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner came into the winery on the 22nd of April.
Whilst the harvesting of the Burn Cottage Vineyard in Lowburn was spread across a four week window the smaller Sauvage Vineyard in Bannockburn was a somewhat short and sweet affair with all the Pinot Noir making its way into the winery for Claire and the team to look after in a matter of days.
With the small crops and the added complexities of lockdown to navigate this harvest, ourselves and Valli made the tough decision to forgo our Vintage 2020 Collaboration, but it will continue in 2021. The other good news is that the Burn Cottage Valli Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018 will be released soon to our supporters.
Overall if we had to sum up vintage 2020 it would be “a year that has delivered us lovely perfumed wines showing beautiful definition and soft generous tannins”. We are all looking forward to watching them evolve in the cellar and to show us their individual personalities.
As many of you may know we have come out of lockdown in New Zealand and have been able to resume a somewhat more “normal” lifestyle. This has allowed us to reopen to appointment only tastings at our winery in Cromwell. This is a great way to sit down with one of the team and to taste through a selection of the current releases and to learn about the Burn Cottage approach to winemaking and viticulture.
